Frost advisory for parts of Alabama tonight: How cold could it get?

A dose of true fall-like weather will be in the air across Alabama today, and a frost advisory has been issued for parts of the state overnight tonight.

It was a cool morning in most spots on Wednesday, with temperatures mostly in the 30s and 40s.

Today is expected to continue the cool-weather trend.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures today to only reach the 60s across most of the state, including south Alabama.

Tonight will bring the coldest temperatures of the season, and frost advisories will go into effect for north and part of north-central Alabama (tonight’s forecast lows are at the top of this post).

Low temperatures tonight will fall into the 30s for all but south Alabama, which is forecast to land in the low 40s.

A frost advisory will go into effect at 1 a.m. Thursday for all of north Alabama:

The weather service in Huntsville said temperatures could fall as low as 34 degrees in the region overnight.

Another frost advisory will be in effect for the northern part of central Alabama:

The frost advisory for central Alabama will go into effect at 3 a.m. Thursday.NWS

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said temperatures in the advisory area could fall as low as 34 degrees overnight as well.

Temperatures are forecast to be a few degrees warmer on Thursday, but they will still be much cooler than what Alabamians are used to. Here are Thursday’s forecast highs:

Another chilly night is expected from Thursday night into Friday morning, but it isn’t expected to be quite as cold as tonight could be:

The weather service is expecting temperatures to warm up by a few degrees going into Friday and the weekend, with the 80s scheduled to return to some spots by Sunday and more of the state next week.
