Families looking for cheap-and-easy entertainment options will find plenty to smile about this summer. Free movie screenings are planned at parks and theaters in the Birmingham area, showcasing movies such as “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “DC League of Super-Pets” and “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.”

Here are five movie series planned for the next several weeks, with no admission fees attached.
