Free 2 Teach Foundation announces second-largest donation in its history
As it prepares for the coming school year, a Huntsville foundation that equips teachers with free classroom supplies announced the second-largest donation in its history.
Free 2 Teach has received $80,000 from Landers McLarty Subaru as part of the Subaru Share the Love campaign, the foundation announced Monday.
“Subaru is making an incredible investment in the thousands of teachers and children we serve at Free 2 Teach,” foundation CEO Alison Kling said in a news release. “Together we are impacting children by investing in their teachers.”
The foundation’s largest single grant came in November from Meta.
Subaru Share the Love is a national giving program that has resulted in $320 million raised over eighteen years for charities selected by local vehicle retailers.
“We are so impressed by the work and vision of the team at Free 2 Teach and honored to partner with them as part of Subaru Share the Love campaign,” said Frank Williams, Managing Partner and Executive Manager for Landers McLarty. “I am proud to partner with an organization dedicated to providing teachers with the tools they need to inspire children in our public schools.”
Monday was also the opening of the foundation’s store for the 2025-2026 school year. Kling said 135 teachers passed through the doors at 3054 Leeman Ferry Road.
The free store is open 11 months of the year, and the more than 6,000 public school teachers in Limestone and Madison counties can shop for free monthly. Free 2 Teach says that in more than 14 years it has given away over $14.7 million in supplies.
