Former WWE wrestler enters hospice, stops chemo

Black Bart is now in hospice care.

The former WWE wrestler, whose real name is Richard Harris, was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2022. According to a family Facebook post, he is no longer getting chemo.

“I will try to keep you fans updated but right now is a time for family and friends,” the post read. “His brothers in the business are considered family. I hope the rest of you understand. But immediate family comes first. The rest of you will be notified with updates as soon as the family is ready to give them. But don’t think we love you any less. Right now Bart is still hanging in there. We are keeping him comfortable and pain free. That’s all I can say for now. Much love to you all!!!”

Harris, a 6-foot-4, 350-pound Arkansas native, started his wrestling career in 1975. He was known as Black Bart from 1990-1991 in the WWE.
