Former UAB standout joins Washington Wizards
Former UAB center Trey Jemison has signed a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards, the NBA team announced on Saturday.
Jemison joins the Wizards from the Birmingham Squadron. In 25 games with the NBA G League team this season, Jemison averaged 10.9 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots and made 56.8 percent of his shots.
The NBA’s worst-rebounding team, Washington has bulked up this week by adding Marvin Bagley III, a 6-foot-10, 235-pound frontcourter, in a trade with the Detroit Pistons on Sunday and signing Jemison, a 6-11, 260-pound prospect.
The Wizards have a 7-33 record entering Saturday’s home game against the San Antonio Spurs, which tips off at 6 p.m. CST.
An Alabama prep star at Homewood and Hoover, Jemison played two seasons at Clemson and three at UAB. He set the Blazers’ single-season record with 329 rebounds in the 2022-23 campaign.
Jemison played for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA 2K24 Summer League and was with the New Orleans Pelicans for training camp and the preseason.
