Former Troy football duo transferring to different SEC schools
A pair of former Troy football standouts are set to play next season in the SEC.
Running back Damien Taylor will transfer to Ole Miss, he announced Sunday. The news comes a day after linebacker Phillip Lee announced he was headed to Arkansas.
Taylor rushed for 1,010 yards and seven touchdowns for the Trojans in 2024, earning second-team All-Sun Belt honors. The Northport native has one season of eligibility remaining at Ole Miss, which also signed former South Alabama cornerback Ricky Fletcher out of the transfer portal last week.
Lee, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., totaled 31 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks for the Trojans from his “bandit” position in 2024. He also has one season of eligibility remaining.
Taylor and Lee are among four Troy starters who have entered the transfer portal during the current cycle. Cornerback LJ Green and tight end Brody Dalton remain undecided on their destinations, though Dalton has been targeted by Alabama.
The transfer portal remains open for new entries through Wednesday, though players already in the portal can announce their destinations at any time.
