Former top-200 recruit Deric Fabian announces transfer to Auburn baseball
Highly ranked infielder Deric Fabian is swapping for a new shade of blue and orange, tweeting “War Eagle” to announce a move to Auburn from Florida.
Fabian started more than 50 games over his first two years at Florida. But 43 of those starts came as a freshman. His transfer comes after only playing in 22 total games as a sophomore.
He played all four infield positions and after having a .931 fielding percentage as a freshman, he had a perfect 1.000 as a sophomore. Primarily, he is a shortstop. He hit .289 as a sophomore.
Auburn has been chasing infielders in the transfer portal, especially after the MLB Draft which could mean Auburn loses infielders Cole Foster and Bryson Ware if they sign contracts with their respective new teams.
Javon Hernandez, who plays second base, announced a transfer to Auburn last week.
But Fabian may be the highest regarded transfer Auburn has brought in this offseason, especially based on his high school pedigree.
Fabian was named Mr. Baseball in Florida as a high school senior in 2021 and and ranked by Perfect Game as a top 200 player in the nation.
His older brother is former Gators star and current Orioles prospect Jud Fabian.
