Another quarterback domino has fallen for Auburn football.

Former Stanford signal caller Ashton Daniels committed to the Tigers on Monday, announcing his commitment in a post on Instagram with On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He becomes the second transfer quarterback to help fill the hole left in Auburn’s thin quarterback room, joining Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold.

Daniels spent three seasons at Stanford and was a starter for the previous two years. He threw for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns and 20 interceptions over the course of his career in Palo Alto.

During the 2024 season, Daniels threw for 1,700 yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 62.7% of his passes. A dual threat quarterback, he also ran for 669 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.

With the departures of Payton Thorne, Hank Brown, Holden Geriner and the reported expected transfer of Walker White, Auburn could still add another quarterback in the transfer portal.

Daniels’ commitment would give Auburn three scholarship quarterbacks, one away from the number Hugh Freeze said he wanted to have on the roster going into the season. He’ll join Arnold and 2025 signee Deuce Knight.
