Former South Alabama linebacker gets another NFL opportunity
Former South Alabama linebacker Trey Kiser got another NFL opportunity on Monday, when he signed with the New York Giants.
In his third season at USA, Kiser recorded 68 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in 2023.
Kiser signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted rookie on May 10. But the Jaguars waived Kiser on July 30.
Kiser will get a crash course on New York’s defensive playbook this week with the Giants dealing with injuries at linebacker ahead of their preseason finale against the New York Jets at 6:30 p.m. CDT Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
In the Giants’ 28-10 preseason loss to the Houston Texans on Saturday, inside linebackers Micah McFadden and Matthew Adams left the game for New York with hip injuries. The Giants already were playing without inside linebacker Dyonte Johnson, who has an ankle injury.
