Former Priceville star set to lead Lawrence County’s girls basketball program

A former north Alabama hoops standout will be taking over a program of her own.

Lawrence County has hired Priceville alum Jenna Walker to lead the girls basketball program, it was announced on Wednesday.

A standout player at Priceville, Walker was a three-time all-state selection in Class 4A, claiming first-team honors at guard as a senior with the Bulldogs and being selected for the Alabama-Mississippi all-star game.

She ranks eighth in career assists in the AHSAA record book with 932 and totaled 200 assists in two of her seasons with the Bulldogs.

Her 19 assists in an 84-11 rout of Randolph in the 2020-2021 season remains tied for fourth in a single game in AHSAA history; she also had 16 against Cold Springs in 2019.

She finished her Division I career at Murray State, where she played in 34 games across two seasons for the Racers.

While missing last season’s run to the NCAA tournament after medically retiring from basketball due to a string of injuries, she was still a part of the team from the bench.

Walker signed with Western Kentucky out of high school, where she played in 29 games as a freshman and led the Hilltoppers with a .808 free throw percentage.
