Former OK State QB Spencer Sanders headed to Ole Miss

For the second straight day, Ole Miss landed a high-profile quarterback transfer.

Spencer Sanders, formerly of Oklahoma State, announced Thursday he is joining Lane Kiffin’s Rebels program. Former LSU quarterback Walker Howard, a true freshman in 2022, announced Wednesday he is also heading to Oxford.

Sanders, who has one year of eligibility remaining, joins a suddenly loaded quarterback situation with the Rebels. In addition to Howard, Jaxson Dart — himself a one-time transfer from USC — is set to return after starting all 13 games and passing for 2,974 yards and 20 touchdowns at Ole Miss in 2022.

Sanders, a four-star recruit out of high school, passed for 9,553 yards and 67 touchdowns and also ran for 18 scores. In 10 games in 2022, he passed for 2,642 yards and 17 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

Sanders was also reportedly considering Auburn, which return 9-game starter Robby Ashford and 2022 freshman backup Holden Geriner from last year’s team and signed 3-star recruit Hank Brown in December. Former starter T.J. Finley is also still listed on the roster, but is not expected to contribute going forward.
