Former NFL player Reggie Torbor to lead Brasfield & Gorrie subsidiary Pylon Building
Birmingham’s Brasfield & Gorrie has launched a wholly-owned subsidiary in the Magic City area.
Pylon Building Group launched in January as a full-service general construction company, and work is already underway on its first project – a restaurant within the Red Mountain Theatre campus.
The company is helmed by President Reggie Torbor, the former Auburn University All-SEC star and NFL linebacker. Torbor worked as a personal development manager for Brasfield & Gorrie for five years.
Torbor said he is excited about “building a team that can go out and do really, really good work.”
“Our hope for Pylon is that it will become a minority-owned, diverse company, and we believe that this diversity will be our strength,” he said. “This idea was born from years of conversations with our minority partners and our desire to create opportunities in our industry in the Birmingham area.”
Red Mountain Theatre Executive Director Keith Cromwell said it was important for the restaurant project to “partner with others who prioritize inclusion.”
“We’re committed to reflecting Birmingham’s diversity and we work to ensure that all people are included,” Cromwell said. “Brasfield & Gorrie is a longtime partner, and when we learned about Pylon’s launch, we jumped at the chance to be their first client. This new company will help further advance diverse representation in Birmingham’s construction market, and we’re thrilled to support that effort.”
