Former LSU standout Kyren Lacy wanted in connection with fatal wreck, reports say

Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy is facing disturbing legal charges in Louisiana, according to a report Friday by Baton Rouge TV station WAFB.

Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for the 24-year-old Lacy, who is charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle in connection with a Dec. 17 wreck in Lafourche Parish near Thibodaux that killed a 78-year-old Marine Corps veteran and injured two others. According to the Advocate of Baton Rouge, police are in communication with Lacy and his attorney, requesting that he turn himself in.

According to police documents obtained by WAFB, Lacy — a native of Thibodaux — was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger south on Louisiana Highway 20 and “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.” A northbound pick-up truck swerved to avoid a collision with Lacy’s vehicle, the report said, and a Kia Cadenza traveling behind the pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento in which Herman Hall was a passenger.

According to the report, Lacy allegedly drove around the crash scene and fled, and “did not stop to render aid, call emergency services or report his involvement in the crash.”

Hall was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The drivers of both vehicles sustained what were described as “moderate” injuries, according to a Dec. 21 report by WWL-TV.

The fatal wreck took place two days before Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL draft. Earlier this week, he was among six former LSU players who accepted invitations to play in the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, which takes place Feb. 1 in Mobile.

Lacy played three seasons at LSU after transferring from Louisiana. In five college seasons, he totaled 162 receptions for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns — nine of them in 2024.
