Former Jacksonville State men’s basketball center commits to SEC program
A key starter on Jacksonville State’s men’s basketball team is headed to the Southeastern Conference.
Jax State transfer Mason Nicholson has committed to play basketball at Vanderbilt, his agency WEAVE announced on social media Friday.
Nicholson played three seasons at Jax State under coach Ray Harper, playing in 76 games and starting 51.
His redshirt junior season saw him average 7.5 points and 7.4 rebounds a game, tying for first on the team in total rebounds.
Nicholson had four double-doubles this season, highlighted by a game against Western Kentucky that saw him score a season-high 20 points and grab 12 rebounds.
The Conference USA all-defensive team member and all-conference honorable mention ranked second in the league in blocks with 60, also ranking second on the team in total minutes behind star Jaron Pierre Jr. who is also in the portal.
