Former Republican Congressman Jerry Carl is not seeking Mobile’s mayor seat this year, according to an announcement he made Monday on the social media site X.

Carl, 66, served two terms in Congress before he was defeated during the March 5, 2024, GOP primary for the 1st congressional district against U.S. Rep. Barry Moore of Enterprise.
