Cambridge began his career at Auburn, where he averaged six points and 3.1 rebounds across 91 games over three seasons. After opening his career in a reserve role off the bench as a true freshman, when he shot 34.2 percent from beyond the arc, the 6-foot-6 swingman started 33 games during his sophomore and junior campaigns while earning a reputation on the Plains as an explosive in-game dunker.

Though his 3-point shooting plummeted after his freshman season — he hit 28.7 percent of his 3-pointers on 5.3 attempts per game as a sophomore and followed it with a 22.1 percent clip as a junior — Cambridge developed into a quality defender and one of Auburn’s best offensive rebounders as his career progressed. He averaged 1.7 offensive rebounds per game and an offensive rebound rate of 9.2 percent during his junior season.

Cambridge entered the transfer portal at the end of last season following Auburn’s second-round loss to Miami in the NCAA Tournament. He opted to transfer to Arizona State to play alongside his brother, who transferred to the Sun Devils from Nevada for his final collegiate season.

While at Arizona State, Cambridge enjoyed the most productive season of his college career. He averaged a career-high 9.8 points per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from distance. He also pulled down a career-best 5.4 rebounds per game, including 2.2 per game on the offensive end while posting an offensive rebound rate of 8.8 percent. He helped the Sun Devils to a 23-13 overall record, a fifth-place finish in the Pac-12 and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Nevada in the First Four before losing to TCU in the opening round.

Despite previously using his one-time transfer, Cambridge would be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer this season.
