Wide receivers Shedrick Jackson from Auburn and Austin Watkins from UAB will be eligible to make their NFL regular-season debuts on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Cincinnati Bengals elevated Jackson from their practice squad and the Cleveland Browns did the same with Watkins to give them active status on Sunday.

The Bengals host the Houston Texans and the Browns visit the Baltimore Ravens at noon CST Sunday.

Each NFL team can elevate two players from its practice squad for each game.

Jackson got called up with wide receivers Tee Higgins out with a hamstring injury and Ja’Marr Chase questionable with a back injury against the Texans.

A member of Hoover High School’s 2017 AHSAA Class 7A championship team, Jackson had 56 receptions for 744 yards and one touchdown in his final two seasons at Auburn before joining Cincinnati as an undrafted rookie in May.

Released when the Bengals reduced their preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53 players, Jackson has spent the season on Cincinnati’s practice squad.

Cleveland elevated Watkins with wide receivers David Bell and Marquise Goodwin unable to play on Sunday. Bell has a knee injury, and Goodwin has a concussion.

A 1,000-yard receiver for UAB in 2019, Watkins signed with the Browns in July after playing for the Birmingham Stallions’ 2023 USFL championship team.

Two other players with Alabama football roots also were elevated from practice squads on Saturday.

Linebacker Rashaan Evans (Auburn High, Alabama) will be available for the third straight game for the Dallas Cowboys when they host the New York Giants at 3:25 p.m. Sunday.

Evans has been on the field for seven defensive snaps and 28 special-teams plays in Dallas’ previous two games. Because the NFL limits the number of elevations for an individual player to three games, Evans will need to be signed to the Cowboys’ 53-man roster to play again this season for the team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers elevated cornerback Keenan Isaac (Midfield, Alabama State) with their pair of Auburn starting cornerbacks Carlton Davis and Jamel Dean listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans at noon Sunday in Tampa, Florida. Davis has a toe injury, and Dean has been in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Isaac joined the Bucs as an undrafted rookie in May and has spent the season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad. In his NFL debut, Isaac got in for 11 special-teams plays during a 26-9 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 1 on his first elevation.
