Former Auburn standout to play in All-Star Futures Game
Former Auburn shortstop Ryan Bliss has been selected for the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.
At the 24th annual contest, 50 top minor-league prospects will square off in an NL vs. AL game at 6 p.m. CDT July 8 at T-Mobile Park, three days before the Seattle Mariners’ home field hosts the Major League All-Star Game.
As a prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, Bliss will play for the National League team in the minor-league all-star game.
As the second baseman for the Amarillo Sod Poodles of the Double-A Texas League, Bliss has a .350 batting average, .396 on-base average and .581 slugging percentage in 60 games this season. He has 56 runs, 19 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 43 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. Bliss leads the Texas League in runs, hits and total bases with 151 in 2023.
In three seasons at Auburn, Bliss had a .328 batting average, .397 on-base average and .581 slugging percentage in 134 games. He hit 20 home runs and stole 22 bases while playing for the Tigers.
In 2019, Bliss played in every game as a freshman as Auburn went to the College World Series for the first time since 1997.
The Diamondbacks selected Bliss in the second round of the 2021 draft.
