Former Auburn softball standout Emily Carosone lands first head coaching gig at Campbell

After recently being named the associate head coach at Troy University, former Auburn softball standout and assistant coach Emily Carosone is on the move again.

On Tuesday morning, Campbell University pinned Carosone as its head softball coach, awarding Carosone the first head coaching gig of her coaching career.

“I am thrilled to welcome Emily Carosone as our new head softball coach,” Campbell Director of Athletics Hannah Bazemore said in a release. “Coach Carosone has been highly regarded as one of the country’s top assistant coaches, finding and developing top-tier student-athletes. She has achieved at an elite level both as a player and coach, and will continue the championship culture that Campbell Softball has become known for.”

Carosone’s move to Campbell comes just 11 days after Troy softball announced her addition.

“I knew this summer that God would place my feet where my feet needed to be and there is no doubt in my mind that Campbell University is where He guided me to be,” Carosone said in the release. “Their priority was finding the right fit for the players and the University, and I believe that the championship mindset for the softball program will continue to be the expectation.”

Carosone spent the past four years as an assistant coach at her alma mater under former Auburn softball coach Mickey Dean, who retired at the conclusion of the 2024 softball season.

When Auburn’s new co-head coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux brought in a staff of their own, Carosone began the search for her next move and seemingly found it in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

Playing for the Tigers from 2013-16, Carosone helped Auburn to a pair of SEC Tournament titles and back-to-back appearances in the Women’s College World Series.

To this day, Carosone still owns the Auburn program record in career batting average batting average (.406), hits (285), runs scored (267), on-base percentage (.534) and hit by pitch (85).

A three-time all-American honoree, Carosone also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with Team Italy, in addition to playing four seasons of professional softball.

When the 2025 college softball season gets underway in February, Carosone will make her head coaching debut with a Campbell team that went 37-21-1 in 2024, which included the Camels claiming the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association regular season title.
