Former Auburn safety staying in the SEC, transfers to Arkansas

Just over a month after announcing his plans to enter the transfer portal, former Auburn safety Caleb Wooden has found a new home.

The veteran defensive back officially transferred to Arkansas on Tuesday, with the school announcing the move in a post on social media.

Wooden is the fourth former Auburn player to leave for another Southeastern Conference school this cycle, following Micah Riley (Texas A&M), Antonio Kite (Ole Miss) and Darron Reed Jr. (Mississippi State).

Wooden will enter his fourth year of college football in 2025 and is coming off a 2024 season where he finished with 17 total tackles and one interception. He began the season as a starter at safety, but saw his role shrink due to the emergence of true freshman Kaleb Harris.

In two career games against Arkansas, Wooden has three tackles and one fumble recovery. The Tigers and Razorbacks’ 2025 matchup will take place on Oct. 25 in Fayetteville.

Despite losing Wooden and starter Jerrin Thompson, Auburn’s safety room remains in a promising position with the return of Harris and Sylvester Smith. Auburn also added Georgia Tech transfer Taye Seymore at safety and incoming freshmen Anquon Fegans and Eric Winters.
