Former Auburn running back signs his first NFL contract
Former Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter signed his first NFL contract on Friday with the Los Angeles Rams.
Hunter joined the Rams as a fourth-round selection in the NFL Draft on April 26 after he ran for 3,371 yards and 25 touchdowns on 539 carries and caught 68 passes for 558 yards and four touchdowns in four seasons at Auburn. Hunter ranks fourth in school history in career rushing yards.
As a senior, Hunter had 1,201 yards and eight touchdowns on 187 rushing attempts in 2024. Hunter ran for 278 yards – the fourth-most in one game in Auburn history — and two touchdowns on 23 carries in a 24-10 victory over Kentucky on Oct. 26.
As the 117th selection in the 2025 draft, Hunter signed a four-year, $5.197 million contract.
Kyren Williams anchors the Rams’ running game after consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He had 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns on 316 carries in 2024. No other Los Angeles player had more than 58 carries in 2024, a stat that was true for only three other NFL teams last season.
Los Angeles completed the first of four weeks of Phase 3 of its offseason program on Friday. After their practice on June 18, the Rams will break until the start of training camp.
