Former Auburn reserve quarterback transferring to Albany
Former Auburn reserve quarterback Trey Lindsey will finish his career at the FCS level.
Lindsey, who entered the transfer portal in December, announced Tuesday that he has committed to Albany. The Montgomery native started his career as a walk-on at Auburn but was placed on scholarship last season while providing depth to the Tigers’ quarterback room.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Lindsey walked on at Auburn in 2019 but did not see game action until late last season, when he made his on-field debut late in Auburn’s blowout win against Western Kentucky during the Tigers’ finale at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Lindsey did not attempt a pass during his time at Auburn.
Lindsey, who attended Montgomery Academy, threw for 2,253 yards and 24 touchdowns as a high school senior.
Now he’s headed to upstate New York to play for the Great Danes, who are coming off a 3-8 season but will return starting quarterback Reese Poffenbarger, who threw for 2,999 yards, 24 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 61.52 percent of his passes as a freshman.
