Former Alabama WR heading back home to ACC as transfer

Tyler Harrell is returning home and heading back to the Atlantic Coast Conference. On Friday, the former Alabama football wide reciever posted on social media news of his transfer to Miami.

Harrell entered the portal on Jan. 14 and has one season of eligibility remaining. After scoring six touchdowns with Louisville in three years, Harrell joined the Crimson Tide last fall.

A foot injury limited his production and when he did hit the field on Oct. 22, Harrell’s impact came in the form of two catches across game games for 18 yards.

“My expectation was high hopes, but unfortunately when I injured myself, it kind of set me back a little bit, and kind of lingered throughout the season. I tried to play through it. It just wasn’t clicking, for real,” Harrell told AL.com after the 2023 Sugar Bowl.

Harrell was one of four Alabama wide receivers to enter the portal. Christian Leary went to Georgia Tech. Traeshon Holden left for Oregon. And like Harrell, Aaron Anderson also went to his hometown school and transferred to LSU. Harrell was a four-star prospect out of Christoper (Fla.) Columbus High in Miami.

Alabama got some good news today as it picked up its second transfer of the week when UAB safety Jalen Key announced his intent to join the Tide.
