Former Alabama teacher charged with having sex with 14-year-old student

A former Alabama teacher was charged Tuesday with allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old student back in April, according to court records.

Alexis Rodriguez, 29, of Guin, was charged with second-degree rape and being a school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19, records showed.

The complaint against Rodriguez, which alleged the incident ocurred April 30, did not list his title with the Marion County school system. WBRC reported that he was a teacher and coach.

The district’s superintendent told the station Rodriguez resigned in July and that they would not comment because the investigation was ongoing.
