Former Alabama State Senator who made national headlines in 2013 arrested for ‘domestic incident’
Shadrack McGill, a former Republican Alabama state senator, was arrested Wednesday for a “domestic incident,” according to Scottsboro police.
“He was involved in a domestic incident, where property damage was involved,” police told AL.com. “McGill’s ex-spouse’s significant other was the victim in this circumstance.”
Police said McGill was charged with Criminal Mischief 1st, since the incident did not “meet the threshold for domestic violence.”
McGill was booked into the Jackson County Jail on Wednesday around 2:24 p.m. and was released around 5:35 p.m. that same day on a $2,500 bond, according to jail records.
McGill, who represented the Scottsboro area from 2010 to 2014, made national headlines in 2013 when he said women were harassing him on Facebook and Twitter and strippers were banging on his door one night at 1 a.m.
His then wife, Heather McGill, made a public Facebook post that went viral, warning women to lay off her husband.
