Former Alabama standout becomes first 2025 first-rounder to sign his NFL contract

Former Alabama guard Tyler Booker became the first player picked in the first round of last week’s NFL Draft to sign his contract on Friday.

Selected by the Dallas Cowboys at No. 12 in the 90th NFL Draft on April 24, Booker signed a four-year, $22.5 million contract, the NFL team announced. The contract includes a $13 million signing bonus, according to the sports financial web site spotrac.com.

“We were both on the same page,” Booker told Todd Archer of ESPN. “We know that this rookie contract is just, Lord willing, the first of a couple that I have coming in front of me. I was just focused on getting to work. I wasn’t too worried about the little extremities. That’s some stuff for my agent to worry about, so I told her, ‘Let’s get this thing done. I’m ready to get to work.’”

The Cowboys are holding their rookie minicamp this weekend.

Dallas also announced Booker had been assigned jersey No. 52, the same number that he wore at Alabama.

The Cowboys drafted Booker after Zack Martin’s retirement this offseason. Martin spent the past 11 seasons as Dallas’ right guard. He earned nine Pro Bowl invitations and first-team All-Pro recognition seven times.
