Former Alabama police officer accused of raping, sexually abusing teen out on bond for separate charge

A former Alabama officer accused of rape and sexual abuse of a 14-year-old, is out of jail.

William “BJ” Squires was indicted by a Mobile County Grand Jury in November 2024 on charges of rape and sexual abuse of a child.

Squires was an officer with the Bayou La Batre Police Department before being fired in October 2024 following allegations of sexual misconduct with an underage girl.

In February, Squires was arrested by Mobile police for allegedly trespassing at a Mobile County park he is banned from due to his pending sexual abuse charges.

The Mobile County District Attorney sought to have Squires’s bond revoked for the trespassing charge while he was in jail since his arrest.

But according to court records, Squires said the City of Mobile allowed him to be at the park to watch his son play baseball as long as he remained in the parking lot.

On Thursday, Judge Michael Windom found no probable cause for the trespassing charge and ruled against revoking Squires’s bond.

Squires is due to return to court on July 17 for a hearing regarding the sexual abuse charges.
