Former Alabama police chief killed in 2-vehicle Etowah County crash
A former Alabama police chief was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Etowah County.
The wreck happened shortly before 11 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 77 and Pilgrims Rest Road in Southside.
Jeffrey Harwood, 71, was rushed to Riverview Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to Southside police.
The other driver was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is leading the crash investigation.
Harwood briefly served as the Rainbow City police chief in 2005.
