Former Alabama parole officer faces aggravated child abuse charges

A former field officer for the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles is facing multiple child abuse charges following a Morgan County grand jury indictment.

Court records show Joddie Brooke King, 47, faces four charges of aggravated child abuse, and four charges of willful abuse of a child under the age of 18. She was arrested Monday and released from jail on $30,000 bond.

An arraignment is set for June 25 at 2:30 p.m., according to court records.

A spokesman for the bureau confirmed King, a former Decatur field officer, has been terminated from her position.

“We are aware a criminal investigation is being conducted by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation,” the spokesman said.

“Any questions regarding that investigation should be directed to (State Bureau of Investigation).”
