Former Alabama OL Terrence Ferguson II commits to Florida State

Former Alabama offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson II is on the move. After entering the transfer portal following the Crimson Tide’s College Football Playoff semifinal loss to Michigan, he announced his commitment to Florida State on Thursday.

Ferguson announced the news on social media, in conjunction with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. The news came the day after former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell, who has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Alabama job, appeared to celebrate the news in a social media post of his own. The undertones suggested a longer-term commitment to the Seminoles, though it seemed to be his standard format when celebrating a commitment.

“#BIGMAN coming to the #NoleFamily,” Norvell wrote in the post, going on to note that the “Future is bright in Tallahassee.”

Ferguson can play either center or guard, though he mostly saw the field as a guard for the Crimson Tide in 2023. He’ll have two years of eligibility left with the Seminoles.

The 6-foot-4, 322-pound lineman earned the first start of his career in Alabama’s win over South Florida in September. He saw the field in a total of six games throughout the season, including the Rose Bowl loss to Michigan.

The transfer portal is currently open for Alabama players after Saban’s departure. A head coach leaving triggers a 30-day window for undergraduate portal entry.
