Former Alabama football WR commits to Baylor in transfer portal

One of the wide receivers who left Alabama football during the current transfer portal entry window has found a new home. Kobe Prentice committed to Baylor on Tuesday.

Prentice announced the news on social media Tuesday morning. He spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide before opting to enter the portal at the conclusion of the 2024 regular season.

The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Prentice caught 11 passes for Alabama this season. He pulled in one touchdown, in the South Florida game, and finished with 129 receiving yards.

He finished his Alabama career with 60 catches, totalling 780 yards and five touchdowns. He joined the Crimson Tide as a four-star prospect out of Calera.

Alabama’s wide receiver room has seen significant losses during the portal entry window, which began Dec. 9. In addition to Prentice, Caleb Odom, Kendrick Law and Emmanuel Henderson are all departing from Tuscaloosa, leaving UA with limited options for its bowl game.

Baylor finished the 2024 season with an 8-4 record, 6-3 in the Big 12. The Bears will finish the season in the Texas Bowl against LSU on Dec. 31.

Meanwhile, Alabama’s season also isn’t quite done. The Crimson Tide will also play Dec. 31, in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan.

That game is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. It will be aired on ESPN.

The current transfer portal undergraduate entry window will run through Dec. 28. Alabama players will have another, shorter portal entry window following the bowl game.
