Former Alabama football offensive lineman heading to transfer portal: Report

Naquil Betand hasn’t been on Alabama football’s roster since early October. On Monday, the former Crimson Tide offensive lineman planned to enter the transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Betrand played in just one game for the Crimson Tide this season. He transferred in from Texas A&M this offseason, after spending his first year of college football at Texas A&M, where he never got on the field.

The transfer portal opened for undergraduate entry on Monday. It will remain open for 20 days.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Betrand was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in the 2023 class. He originally hails from Philadelphia.

Alabama faced a flurry of transfer portal exits following the news that it was left out of the College Football Playoff field. The Crimson Tide will instead end its season in the ReliaQuest Bowl, where it will play Michigan, a rematch of last year’s CFP Rose Bowl semifinal.

Betrand become the second offensive lineman to make his portal intentions know after the CFP field was selected. Miles McVay is also entering the portal.

Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide and Wolverines are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT on Dec. 31 in Tampa, at Raymond James Stadium. The ReliaQuest Bowl will be aired on ESPN.
