Former Alabama DB Dezz Ricks transferring to SEC school

Former Alabama cornerback Dezz Ricks will transfer to Texas A&M, he announced late Tuesday.

Ricks, a 5-star recruit in the Crimson Tide’s 2023 signing class out of IMG Academy, played in two games while redshirting as a true freshman this past season. The Norfolk, Va., native has four years of eligibility remaining.

Ricks is one of several Alabama players who have transferred away either since the end of the regular season or since Nick Saban retired a week ago. Others include wide receiver Isaiah Bond (Texas), linebacker Kendrick Blackshire (Texas), linebacker Shawn Murphy (Florida State), wide receiver Shazz Preston (Tulane), defensive lineman Isaiah Hastings (Syracuse), center Seth McLaughlin (Ohio State), safety Jake Pope (Georgia), running back Roydell Williams (Florida State), safety Kristian Story (Kentucky), offensive lineman Terrance Ferguson (Florida State), quarterback Eli Holstein (Pittsburgh), defensive lineman Monkell Goodwine (South Carolina) and wide receiver Malik Benson (Florida State).

In addition, starting safety Caleb Downs and projected starting cornerback Trey Amos have also entered the transfer portal in recent days or plan to do so.
