Football High Live: Updates, scores from Friday’s Week 8 HS games
The Week 8 high school football schedule started Thursday and finishes with a flurry of great action across the state tonight.
Key games include Carver-Montgomery at Central-Phenix City, Enterprise at Opelika, Athens at Hartselle, Scottsboro at Guntersville, Leeds at Moody and Saraland at St. Paul’s.

The 7A, Region 2 matchup between Enterprise and Opelika is particularly interesting considering the mid-week news that Enterprise head coach Ben Blackmon was suspended for the game for a rules violation.

6:50 PM, Warriors on the road: Class 7A No. 3 Thompson on the road tonight to take on Region 3 rival Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. Playoffs are getting closer. Every game means something at this point.
6:45 PM, Commit watch: Alabama RB commit Anthony Rogers and Carver-Montgomery try to get back on track tonight against the reigning champs at Central-Phenix City. Another key Class 7A, Region 2 showdown.
6:40 PM, The game before the game: Williamson and Vigor are heading toward an undefeated Class 5A, Region 1 showdown next week. However, before they get there, the Lions must get past Terry Curtis and UMS-Wright tonight at Cooper Stadium.
6:35 PM, Look who is back: Texas commit KJ Lacey is back for Saraland after missing the past two games with an injury. He’ll lead the Spartans tonight against another unbeaten Region 1 team, St. Paul’s.
6:30 PM, Scenes from around the state:
6 PM, Monster matchup: Class 6A No. 1 Saraland takes on undefeated St. Paul’s in the Press-Register Game of the Week. The winner takes sole possession of first place in Region 1.
3 PM, All-Star staffs named: South coach Kenny King and North Coach Sam Adams have named their staffs for the annual North-South All-Star game in Mobile. The game will be played Dec. 13 at Hancock Whitney Stadium. See who will be coaching the All-Stars.
