Football High Live: Updates, scores from Friday’s HS games
We roll into Week 2 of the high school football season full throttle tonight.
After a limited schedule Thursday night, approximately 179 games are on tap tonight.
Some of the key games around the state include No. 7 Anniston at Class 4A No. 1 Andalusia, Austin at Decatur, No. 5 Enterprise at No. 2 Auburn in Class 7A, B.C. Rain at Vigor, Blount at Spanish Fort and Central Clay-County at Benjamin Russell.

Also, Texas A&M commit Cam Coleman with an early TD for Central-Phenix City. Red Devils lead Smiths Station 7-0.

6:58 PM, Century in the making: Foley celebrating its 100th year of football this year. The first game was against Baldwin County in 1924. That’s also who the Lions host tonight.
6:57 PM, Prime Time matchup: In one of the biggest games of the night, Class 4A No. 1 and reigning champ Andalusia hosts Anniston in a battle of top 10 teams.
6:55 PM, Special night at Davidson: The Warriors play their first official game in their new on-campus stadium tonight, hosting Hillcrest-Evergreen. They are also honoring the 2005 team, coached by Fred Riley, which went 12-1.
6:52 PM, Fast action: North Gwinnett, Ga., leads Gardendale 14-7 with 3:50 left in the first quarter. Rockets’ Boogie Harris scored on a 55-yard catch and run to cut into the deficit. However, North Gwinnett responds quickly — 1 play in fact — scoring on a 61-yard QB keeper. It’s 21-7, still in the first quarter.
6:50 PM, Another prospect watch: A-List No. 2 and Alabama commit Jaylen Mbakwe will lead Clay-Chalkville against Hueytown tonight on the road. Clay is ranked No. 2 in Class 6A.
6:48 PM, No. 1 on the field: Fyffe, the only unanimous No. 1 team in this week’s ASWA high school football rankings, host Geraldine tonight in their 2023 opener.
6:45 PM, Early start: Gardendale has traveled to Georgia tonight to play North Gwinnett. The Rockets trail 7-0 with 8:04 left in the first quarter.
6:40 PM, Owning Old Shell: St. Paul’s, which beat UMS-Wright last week, will try to do the same with 6A McGill-Toolen tonight. All three schools are located on Old Shell Road in Mobile.
6:35 PM, Prospect watch: Auburn commit Malcom Simmons and Benjamin Russell host Danny Horn and Central-Clay County in what should be a good one tonight.
6:15 PM, Hall of Fame Homecoming: New Pro Football Hall of Fame member Demarcus Ware returns home tonight. He will be recognized at Auburn High prior to the Tigers’ home opener with Enterprise. The special ceremony is set for 6:40 p.m.
6 PM, Change of plans: Daphne will apparently have a new man behind center tonight when the Trojans host Carver-Montgomery. Landon Snow, who started last week’s win over Murphy, has left the team, according to Kenny King. He is likely to be replaced by 3-star IMG transfer Jamar Malone.
