Football High Live: Scores, updates from Friday’s Week 11 slate

One of tonight’s biggest state storylines is the quest of UMS-Wright veteran coach Terry Curtis to tie Buddy Anderson’s AHSAA all-time wins record.

Curtis enters tonight’s home game with Williamson with 345 victory. Anderson retired after 43 years at Vestavia Hills in 2020 with 346.

If the No. 1 Bulldogs beat Class 5A, Region 1 rival Williamson to complete a 10-0 regular season, Curtis will have a chance to break the record in the first round of the playoffs next Friday.

Check back frequently to see if Curtis can tie the mark. Other key games around the state include Prattville at Central-Phenix City, Westminster at Madison Academy, Fairhope at Briarwood Christian and St. Paul’s at Theodore.

A complete list of final scores will be posted at the end of the night. The first-round playoff pairings will be posted on AL.com when they are available. Here we go with the final week of the regular season.

6:52 PM, Perfect season? Hartselle tries to close a 10-0 season tonight when it hosts Bob Jones. Tigers host Buckhorn in the first round of the playoffs.

6:48 PM, Perennial powers meet: Good match of perennial small school powers tonight at Mars Hill where the Patriots welcome Linden.

6:44 PM, Interesting statewide matchup: Fairhope travels to play Briarwood Christian tonight in what hopefully will be an intriguing QB matchup between seniors Caden Creel of the Pirates and Christopher Vizzina of Briarwood. Tim Carter spoke about this matchup way back in Media Day.

6:40 PM, Spartans trying to bounce back: Alabama sophomore WR commit Ryan Williams and Saraland look to bounce back from last week’s loss at now No. 1 Theodore with a win tonight against McGill-Toolen. Spartans will be at home in the first week of the playoffs. McGill will not make the postseason.

6:35 PM, Playoffs straight ahead: The head coaches of all playoff teams will meet in Montgomery Saturday morning and the final pairings and times will be released. We’ll have those pairings either later tonight or before noon tomorrow.

6:30 PM, On the road: Alma Bryant finishes its season against Northridge tonight in Tuscaloosa.
