Foley man charged with manslaughter in brother’s stabbing death

A 33-year-old Foley man is in the Baldwin County Jail, charged with stabbing his brother to death during an altercation Sunday night.

Foley police were called to a residence on Park Avenue in Foley just before 11 p.m. Sunday on a report of a disturbance.

Arriving at the scene, officers learned 29-year-old James Ryan Vaughn had been stabbed and a witness told police Vaughn’s brother, 33-year-old Wesley Nathanael Nance, had stabbed Vaughn during an altercation between the two.

Nance fled the scene on foot just prior to police arrival.

Lifesaving measures were instigated on Vaughn at the scene and he was transported to the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Nance was later located not far from the residence where the incident occurred and was taken into custody.

According to Foley police, the information and evidence gathered at the scene was handed over to the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, which has charged Nance with manslaughter.

As of Tuesday morning, Nance remained held without bond in the Baldwin County Jail.
