Foley home health nurse charged with felony abuse of 3-year-old with cerebral palsy

A home health nurse has been charged with felony child abuse after the father of a 3-year-old with cerebral palsy provided video to Foley police showing the alleged abuse.

Foley police said 40-year-old Ashleigh Elizabeth Mancil was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated child abuse. She remained in the Baldwin County Jail as of Thursday morning under $20,000 bond.

Aggravated child abuse is a Class B felony in Alabama, punishable by up to 20 years in state prison.

Foley police said the video of the alleged abuse will not be released until the investigation is completed. Investigators also said the child did not sustain any “significant” injuries.
