Florida to wear black uniforms for Nov. 4 Arkansas game
Florida will wear black jerseys, pants and helmets for its Nov. 4 home game vs. Arkansas as part of a “Saluting Those Who Serve” celebration to honor military, veterans and other first responders.
The uniforms feature the Gators’ regular blue, orange, green and white logos and other trim on solid black backgrounds. Player name plates will display one of five words that are “synonymous with the principles embodied by those who serve.”
Here’s a look at the uniforms:
“I know Gator Nation is excited about the team wearing black uniforms, but I don’t want us to lose sight of the intent relative to creating awareness and showing gratitude and appreciation for all branches of our military and first responders,” head coach Billy Napier said. “We’re doing something that’s going to be a lot of fun, but ultimately, we’re hopeful that we can recognize and show appreciation for a lot of selfless people that have chosen a profession of service and put their lives at risk each day.”
A member of each of the Armed Forces branches will also address the Florida team after each practice during game week. For the first 2,000 tickets purchased to the game, Florida will also donate a ticket to a local “military hero.”
Florida opens the season Aug. 31 at Utah. The Gators finished 6-7 in 2022, Napier’s first season as head coach.
