A 15-year-old Florida boy jumped naked from a third-floor apartment window to escape a beating from his father, according to media reports and the Alachua County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office.

According to a sheriff’s office arrest report obtained by News4 in Jacksonville, the incident occurred at an apartment complex in Gainesville on Feb. 7. The teen told investigators his 41-year-old father told him to strip naked and then beat him with a belt.

The father told deputies he hit the boy at least 30 times because his son didn’t do his chores and rolled his eyes at him. The boy said his father also punched him in the head several times.

The father’s identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the child.

The boy was severely injured crashing through the window to escape, but managed to make his way to a nearby Walgreens store, where witnesses said the teenager was covered in blood.

According to the report, paramedics had to use two tourniquets to stop the bleeding from the boy’s injuries, and they also noted dark red bruising on the boy’s back, butt and arms consistent with being struck by a belt.

The father has been charged with child abuse causing great bodily harm. He was booked into Alachua County Jail under $100,000 bond.
