Florida State has no board of regents meeting set as ACC deadline approaches
There is no Florida State Board of Regents meeting set for Tuesday, per Brett McMurphy.
The news is significant as Tuesday is the deadline to notify the ACC if a team is leaving before 2024 season, which means the Seminoles will remain in the ACC for the immediate future.
Earlier this month, several Florida State officials and trustees lamented the ACC’s broadcast deal with ESPN.
“It’s not a matter of if we leave (the ACC), in my opinion,” FSU trustee Drew Weatherford said.

At issue is the conference’s media deal, which runs through 2036. The deal calls for equal distribution among all member institutions. The deal could bring ACC schools $30 million less than Big Ten and SEC peers. There’s a $120 million exit fee involved, plus whatever legal battle would follow between the league and the school trying to get out of a grant of rights that stretches until 2036.

Any ACC school would need to give notice to the conference that it was leaving by Aug. 15 in order to compete elsewhere the following academic year.
