Florida State Hall of Fame taps former Mobile prep star
Former Mobile prep standout Rodney Hudson has been chosen for the Florida State University Athletics Hall of Fame, the school announced on Thursday.
An All-State offensive lineman for B.C. Rain High School in 2005 and 2006, Hudson went on to an accolade-filled career at Florida State — first-team All-ACC guard four times, the first player in conference history to be named ACC Player of the Week nine times, a Football Writers Association of America All-American in 2009, a unanimous All-American in 2010 and the winner of the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy in 2009 and 2010.

After entering the NFL as the 55th selection in the 2011 draft, Hudson switched to center. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2011 through 2014, the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders from 2015 through 2020 and the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 and 2022. The Cardinals released Hudson in March, and he remains a free agent.
Hudson earned Pro Bowl recognition in 2016, 2017 and 2019. He also won the Raiders’ Commitment to Excellence Award for four consecutive seasons. The award is presented annually to the Raiders player “who best exemplifies hard work, leadership and excellence on and off the field throughout the season.”
