Florida man charged with murdering woman at Atmore hotel
A Florida man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of an Atmore woman at a local hotel last week.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting last Wednesday morning at the Southland Hotel on East Louisville Avenue in Atmore. When they arrived, officers found a female — later identified as Tara Ann Bryan of Atmore — on floor on a room suffering from a gunshot wound.
Bryan was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment. Investigators, meanwhile, identified 39-year-old Luis Trevizo Becerra of McDavid, Fla., as the primary suspect. A statewide alert for Becerra was issued and he was later taken into custody by Alabama state troopers on Interstate 65 in Conecuh County.
Initially charged with attempted murder, Becerra’s charge was upgraded to murder when Bryan succumbed to her injury Monday. He is being held without bond at the Escambia County (Ala.) Jail.
