Florida law enforcement searching for convicted felon wanted for murder of wife near Perdido Key
A man who has twice served time in Florida prisons — once for assaulting a pregnant woman — is now on the run, accused of the shooting death of his wife at a residence not far from Perdido Key.
The Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Daryl Jerome Walker shot and killed his 35-year-old wife and then fled the scene in a black 2020 Hyundai Veloster with Florida tag BG10PN.
“He is WANTED for homicide,” the sheriff’s office said in a release. “He is considered ARMED and DANGEROUS.”
Deputies responded to a residence on Meadson Road about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a shooting. Officers arriving at the scene found the 35-year-old female, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
In 2009, Walker was convicted of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and served two years and four months in prison. In 2018, he was again sent to prison, this time serving 14 months of a four-year sentence for DUI, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, child neglect and marijuana possession. He was released in May 2022.
Later in 2022, Walker was arrested for marijuana possession, attempting to elude police and resisting arrest, according to Escambia County jail records. The disposition of those charges wasn’t immediately known.
Anyone with information on Walker’s whereabouts or spotting a vehicle matching the description is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 850-433-STOP or the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at 850-436-9620.
