Florida-based barbecue chain looking to expand into Alabama
A Florida-based barbecue chain plans to aggressively expand into eight states – including Alabama.
Woody’s Bar-B-Q got its start in Jacksonville, Fla. back in 1980, and it currently has 15 Florida locations, and one in Pennsylvania, with more on the way. But the brand is looking for potential franchisees in Alabama as well as Florida, Georgia, Texas, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Mississippi.
“There’s a real niche for the Woody’s Bar-B-Q product,” Steve Gardner, the company’s new director of franchise development. “Slow-smoked barbecue is a segment that is underserved in certain parts of the country. But before we make those introductions, we’re looking to solidify and expand brand recognition in the South in markets where barbecue is considered popular fare.”
The restaurant’s menu includes baby back ribs, Texas beef brisket, grilled prime rib, chicken, catfish, salads and a gluten-free selection.
Gardner said the company has received inquiries from Texas and North Carolina, and from as far away as Oklahoma.
