Florence police say an 18-year-old was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday.

The incident happened about 10:15 p.m. on Helton Drive, just north of Rickwood Road.

Florence police, Florence Fire, and Lifeguard EMS responded after a motorcycle collided with a vehicle entering the roadway from Helton Court.

The motorcycle operator, Jesse Christopher James, 18, from Muscle Shoals, died due to his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, whose name was not released, was taken to North Alabama Medical Center and received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

In an announcement, Florence police expressed sympathy to the James family.
