Florence police arrest man in downtown shooting that injured 1
Florence police have arrested a man they say was involved in an overnight shooting that injured one person.
Roderick Watkins, 24, has been charged with reckless endangerment.
According to a post on the Florence Police Department Facebook page, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Court Street in downtown Florence around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his ankle.
The department says witnesses helped officers to quickly identify Watkins as a suspect in the shooting and find his vehicle.
“Officers successfully called Watkins out of the vehicle without further incident. A handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle. Watkins was taken into custody and taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center,” the Florence Police Department said.
Watkins was released on bond Sunday, according to the department.
