Florence man arrested for attempted murder, after woman stabbed, shot

Police have charged a Florence man with attempted murder after they say a woman was shot multiple times and stabbed.

According to Florence police, the incident happened April 18 at about 10:30 p.m. Officers received a call about a wounded female on her way to the hospital.

Investigators determined the incident happened at a residence in the 400 block of North Cherokee Street. The woman was in a domestic relationship with a man, identified as Quentin Lamont Smith. During an argument, police say, Smith cut the victim with a knife and fired several rounds at her.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Smith, 40, was found by police inside the residence with a handgun. He was originally charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. Police later charged him with attempted murder and third degree domestic violence criminal mischief.

Smith is being held on a $675,000 bond at the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
