Flooding a danger as up to 6 inches of rain falls in north Alabama

Motorists in north Alabama are coping with a heavy dose of rain this morning.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of Limestone and Madison counties this morning. Radar indicated up to six inches of rain fell on parts Huntsville, Madison and Meridianville, among other counties.

A weather service bulletin said flooding can also impact portions of Athens, Redstone Arsenal, Moores Mill, the University Of Alabama In Huntsville, Harvest, Alabama A&M, Capshaw, Toney, French Mill, Ryland, Brownsboro and Hampton Cove.

According to Huntsville police, as of almost 9 a.m., there are no reports of road closings.

“There is water over the roadway in some areas of the city. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling,” a police spokesperson said.
