First-team All-Pro: Xavier McKinney newest name on Alabama’s list

The 2024 NFL season is the third time that at least three Alabama alumni have been chosen as first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press, with Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney and Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II earning the honor.

In 2022, when four former Alabama players made first-team All-Pro, Surtain joined Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs and New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams as the Crimson Tide’s representatives.

In 1984, the All-Pro first team included St. Louis Cardinals linebacker E.J. Junior, Cleveland Browns tight end Ozzie Newsome and Miami Dolphins center Dwight Stephenson.

Like Surtain, Humphrey has been a first-team All-Pro pick previously, receiving the recognition in 2019, and the cornerbacks join six other Alabama alumni who have been chosen first-team All-Pro more than once.

McKinney is a first-time selection, and his addition brings to 29 the number of former Alabama players who have beem first-team All-Pro choices by the AP. They have combined for 51 appearances on the annual NFL all-star team.
